Senator Kennedy offers internships year round in his Washington, DC office as well as the state offices in Baton Rouge, Shreveport, Alexandria, Lafayette, and Monroe. Interns in the Washington, DC office will learn the federal legislative process by closely interacting with the legislative staff by conducting policy research, attending committee hearings, answering phone calls from constituents, and giving tours of the Capitol building for visiting constituents.
In the state offices, interns will gain experience of constituent services. State offices interns interact with constituents on a daily basis in order to resolve problems facing Louisianans. Duties include working with federal agencies and participating in outreach projects along with assisting staff members with various administrative tasks.
Due to the limited number of internship positions all interested applicants are encouraged to submit the application as early as possible.
